About PADI TecRec – Extend Your Limits

The PADI TecRec program opens the door to a new level of underwater exploration. Designed for experienced divers who want to go beyond the no-stop limits, TecRec training combines advanced knowledge, disciplined procedures, and specialized equipment to safely explore deeper depths and longer dives.

As part of the world’s largest diver training organization, PADI TecRec offers a structured, step-by-step approach—from Tec 40 all the way to Tec Trimix Diver—helping you progress at your own pace while mastering the skills needed for serious technical diving.

Whether your goal is to explore a deep wreck, plan multi-gas decompression dives, or prepare for expeditions, PADI TecRec gives you the training, confidence, and support to make it happen.

PADI Discover Tec Diving

Are you curious about technical diving but not quite ready to commit to a certification course?
Discover Tec is a short confined water experience that lets you try technical diving. You’ll get to wear all the extra technical diving gear and use it during a trial dive. Your PADI Tec Instructor will introduce you to some basic skills such as finning techniques, safety drills, and valve drills.

Benefits: Discover Tek diving in a confine area while improving your knowledge about.

Course duration: ½ day

Prerequisites: PADI Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent), Minimum of 10 logged dives

Age: 15 years

Course includes: 1 theory session,  1 confined/pool dive

PADI Basic Tec Diving

Tec Basics is a versatile course focused on introducing new diving equipment, skills, and techniques used in technical diving. It’s an optional level designed to help divers explore different equipment configurations and refine their fundamental skills before moving on to the Tec 40 Diver course.

This program is ideal for divers who want to gain experience and build confidence with technical diving setups while improving their buoyancy and trim. It’s also useful for certified technical divers who need a refresher or orientation to a new equipment configuration.

Benefits: Learn the fundamentals of technical diving and get a first-hand look at the exciting possibilities it offers.

Course duration: 2 days

Prerequisites: PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent), PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver (or equivalent).

Age: 15 years

Course content: 2 theory and practical application sessions, 1–2 confined water/pool dives, 1 open water dive

 
 

PADI Tec 40 Diver

The PADI Tec 40 course is where you make the transition from recreational to technical diving. It’s a natural next step after the Tec Basics course, or it can serve as your very first Tec Diver program. This course bridges the gap between no-stop recreational diving and technical decompression diving. You’ll gain experience and start developing the knowledge and skills required to continue your technical diver training.

During this course, you’ll learn how to use decompression software and dive computers to plan and conduct dives to a maximum depth of 40 meters, with decompression stops not exceeding 10 minutes. You’ll also be trained to use one stage cylinder with a gas mix of up to 50% oxygen to enhance safety during decompression.

 

Benefits: Dive up to 40 meters, perform limited decompression (up to 10 minutes), and use a single decompression gas mix.

Course duration: 3 days

Prerequisites: PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent: CMAS 2*, Niveau 2, etc.), PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver (or equivalent),PADI Deep Diver (or equivalent) and at least 10 dives to 30 meters, Minimum of 30 logged dives, including at least 10 dives using nitrox deeper than 18 meters

Age: 18 years

Course content: 3 theory and practical application sessions, 1–2 confined water/pool dives, 3 open water dives

Maximum training depth: 40 meters

PADI Tec 45 Diver

This course picks up where the Tec 40 course leaves off and takes your technical diving training deeper and further!

You’ll learn the techniques, equipment setup, and procedures required to dive to a maximum depth of 45 meters. You’ll also learn how to plan and execute single and repetitive decompression dives using one decompression cylinder with up to 100% oxygen to accelerate decompression or increase safety during stops.

 

Benefits: Dive to 45 meters while using nitrox and/or oxygen for decompression, with no time limits on decompression duration.

Course duration: 3 days

Prerequisites: PADI Tec 40 Diver (or equivalent), PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent), Valid first aid and CPR certification issued within the past 2 years, minimum of 50 logged dives, including at least 10 dives deeper than 30 meters

Age: 18 years

Course content: 3 theory and practical application sessions, 1 confined water/pool dive, 3 open water dives

Maximum training depth: 45 meters

PADI Tec 50 Diver

The Tec 50 course completes your entry-level technical diver training and takes you beyond the limits of recreational diving.
During this course, you’ll learn how to plan and conduct technical dives down to 50 meters, using multiple decompression gases to manage longer and more complex dives safely.

 

Benefits: Dive to 50 meters using two decompression gases (air, EANx, and oxygen).

Course duration: 3–4 days

Prerequisites: PADI Tec 45 Diver (or equivalent),PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent), valid first aid and CPR certification issued within the past 2 years, minimum of 100 logged dives, including at least 20 dives with nitrox deeper than 18 meters and 15 dives deeper than 30 meters.

Age: 18 years

Course content: 2 theory sessions (3 modules total), 3 practical application sessions, 1 confined water/pool dive, 3 open water dives.

Maximum training depth: 50 meters
