At Only Blue Diving, we believe that protecting the ocean starts with helping people discover it.
With the support of the Club Med Foundation, we recently organized a three-day Sea Camp for eight young residents of San Salvador. Throughout the weekend, they explored coral reefs, learned about marine biology, and even completed their very first scuba diving experience.
Discovering the Reefs of San Salvador
The adventure began with a private boat excursion featuring snorkeling stops at Three Conch Reef and Sea Garden. Participants observed coral formations, sea fans and tropical reef fish in their natural habitat.
For many of them, it was their first true exploration of the marine ecosystems surrounding their island.
Learning to Protect
The following morning was dedicated to marine biology. Through interactive games and team quizzes, participants learned about coral reefs, marine organisms, sea turtles and sharks.
A special discussion focused on sharks and their crucial ecological role. The children also learned why The Bahamas has become internationally recognized as one of the world’s leading shark sanctuaries.
They were also introduced to the coral conservation initiatives carried out by Only Blue Diving Dreams, including coral nurseries and reef restoration projects.

From Snorkeling to Scuba Diving
After additional water sports activities and a snorkeling session at Frascati Wreck, participants completed the academic portion of the PADI Discover Scuba Diving program.
The highlight of the weekend came the following morning.
After learning how to assemble scuba equipment and completing their shallow-water skills session, the children boarded a boat to Jackson Paradise, a shallow dive site perfectly suited for first-time divers.
Despite some initial nervousness, every participant successfully completed the experience and explored the underwater world in a safe and supportive environment.

Inspiring the Next Generation of Ocean Ambassadors
Beyond the activities themselves, the purpose of the Sea Camp was to strengthen the connection between local youth and the ocean that surrounds them.
Over three days, participants learned that coral reefs are not only beautiful ecosystems—they protect coastlines, support biodiversity and play a vital role in the Bahamian economy.
We hope this experience has inspired curiosity, encouraged environmental stewardship and perhaps even sparked future careers in marine conservation.
The future guardians of San Salvador’s reefs may already be among them.
Thank You to the Club Med Foundation
Our sincere thanks go to the Club Med Foundation, whose support made this project possible and helped create unforgettable memories for these young participants.
